What is NAFTA?

The NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was put into force on January 4, 1994. This agreement was signed by Canada, the United States and Mexico with intent to ease the trade barriers and slowly eliminate tariffs between these countries. NAFTA’s interests lie in stimulating the labour and economic markets of the three countries therefore NAFTA provides privileges in different respects to make it easier to do business with each other. For those seeking to come to Canada to work, some of the benefits can be seen in the immigration process for foreign workers that qualify to apply under NAFTA.
