Entrepreneurs

The Entrepreneur Class applicant must have a net worth of at least CDN $300,000 that could have been obtained with, where applicable, a married or common-law spouse as long as he or she is accompanying the applicant. Secondly, the individual must have at least 2 years of experience in managing and controlling at least 25% of the capital equity of a business acquired during the five years immediately prior to the date of the submitted application.

Applicants of this class must apply under one of the two subprograms for entrepreneurship. The first demands that you have the intent and the ability to launch a business project that will involve you creating or acquiring a business in Québec and owning at least 25% of the capital equity at value of CDN $100,000. The second option states that you have already acquired a business in Québec, of which you, alone or with an accompanying spouse, own at least 25% of capital equity at value of CDN $100,000; you will be required to participate in the management of the business operations on a daily basis.

When being assessed by Québec, factors such as your language skills, age, amount of training, personal qualities and knowledge of Québec will be taken into account.

If your permanent resident status under Entrepreneur Class for business immigrants is approved, you will have to comply with particular conditions. For at least one year during the three years after obtaining permanent resident status, you will be required to create or acquire a Québec-established business where you hold 25% of the capital equity valued at minimum CDN $100,000 which will employ a Québec resident, apart from yourself and family members, on a permanent basis for at least 30 hours a week of work.
